Teacher reviews:

Liz Burtz came to my Kindergarten class of 24 students and did a clay project. The students made an ornament/hanger that had a stamped background and the first letter of their name in the center. She showed them how to roll the clay, stamp the background, make the letter of their first name, and glaze it. She was very clear with the directions. She guided them, but let them choose how they wanted to create their project. She was very calm and encouraging. The students loved this project and were so excited and thrilled when they received their finished product! The projects were beautiful!

My kindergarten class had a fantastic experience creating a fall clay project with Liz Burtz.  When presenting to young students, Mrs. Burtz is calm and explicit when explaining directions.  The students received directions for a multiple-step project of creating a leaf tray.  The steps involved rolling out clay, making a leaf imprint with a real leaf, cutting out the tray with a template, smoothing and shaping the tray and glazing the leaf tray.  There were many steps, but breaking down the steps and showing clear examples of each step, lead to success for each student.  In addition, Mrs. Burtz knows how to connect with young students. For example, she gave students examples of ways to use the project that were relatable.  This had the students smiling and excited to get to work.  Mrs. Burtz is talented at working with young children and is knowledgeable about the clay project process.

Liz Burtz came and taught a clay class to my 5th grade students and they absolutely loved it!  She demonstrated everything they needed to know and guided them through the process.  The kids were very engaged with this activity.  They kept asking me when she would come back so they could paint their projects.  The finished work looked great and I really appreciated the time she spent with my kids!

I highly recommend Liz Burtz of Cambrian Park Pottery! Mrs. Burtz came into my class of 24 kindergarteners and had the students make a small dish with a leaf rubbing in the center. The children were so excited and engaged, and Mrs. Burtz had the materials ready and she gave excellent instructions on how to do the project. The children pounded and rolled that clay, made a leaf imprint, and then applied a glaze. When Mrs. Burtz fired their projects and returned them their faces really lit up with joy. All of the children were excited and proud, and they asked when she could come again. She is a true artist who inspires the children!
